My wife and I attended the General Canby Day celebration on July forth and had a great time. This is the second year we have attended. However we had a real concern about the parade. As you probably have observed ,the kids in the crowd got further and further out in the street as the parade went on in order to get the candy that was being thrown. I know that the city is concerned about this as I saw the notice that was posted on the website about this. However not everyone did not get the word or they ignored it.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if you had ever thought about having a police officer walking with the people who throw the candy to move kids back or maybe just doing away with the candy altogether. I know that you have a limited number of officers and that having them walk along the route would probably strain resources to the limit however if a child got hurt going after candy or probably worse I can see the city getting sued and that why I write this letter to you
My wife and I are not residents of Canby but we do enjoy the Canby Days celebration very much and we don't want to see anything bad happen to it. Sincerely Yours Bill Haskell wstarhopper@aol.com
